May 30, 2012: Happy Birthday, Mom!

Pin It Now! It's my lovely mother's birthday today - love you, Mom!

My computer changeover went (almost!) like clockwork and I didn't have any trouble re-establishing an Internet connection.  However, I don't have any of my upcoming blog photos transferred over yet.  However, I am pleased to report that I have managed to type this entire paragraph without any freezeups or blackouts, so that is a major plus!

Upcoming Events:

June 9, 2012: June Class $15 (unless you are my downline, then it is free!)  I believe we will be making a tote with 16 birthday cards using an all new One-Sheet-Wonder template of my own design.  :)

June 23, 2012: FREE NEW CATALOG OPEN HOUSE.  Come and do a fun make-n-take while enjoying some munchies, sample what Stampin' Up! has to offer, get the AMAING new catalog, and enjoy a retired stamp and tool sale with product discounts on orders!

Here is an example of how it will work:

$10 for a retired stamp set
+ $5 discount on a
   $10 order
= $5 for the retired set!

This is a great deal both on retired product AND new toys!  Hope you all can attend.  :)

May 29, 2012: Going, Going, Gone!

Pin It Now!

The new catalog is almost here!  But we are running out of time to add our favorites to our stamp collection.  :)  Many of the tools, dies, paper, inks and accessories are already gone (although stamps will be available until May 31) so get your orders in FAST! I wanted to share a few of my favorites with you today.  These are the ones I will REALLY miss!
MANY of these and other retired items will be available at my OPEN HOUSE on June 23rd - and I will be doing "in house credit" for retired items when you place an order from the new catalog!

Fifth Avenue Floral.  This one hurts!  Amazing for all those watercoloring techniques.
French Filigree - ouch!  Such a pretty background stamp.
Medallion.  This one makes amazing suns!  Mine will be for sale, too.  :)
Scenic Season.  I LOVE this one for Christmas cards!  May be for sale...
Always Elegant.  Sadly, this one will be for sale, too.  I honestly think I got more use out of this one than most of my other stamps combined.  I love it!

So there you have it.  Get your orders in soon!

PLEASE NOTE: I am changing over to a new computer this afternoon.  I don't anticipate any problems, but if I'm offline a couple days you know why.  :D

May 27, 2012: Dad's Birthday

Pin It Now! After all this time as a Stampin' Up! demonstrator, I own very, very few stamps from other companies.  I just really feel that SU's stamps are so completely superior in every way that I have no need for anything else!  Except when it comes to Daddy's airplanes.  :)  These stamps are exact images of the airplanes Dad has owned or flew, so I have to keep it on hand just for him!

As soon as I saw the aperture layers people were putting in shadow box cards, I hatched this idea of using the Cupcake Builder Punch to make clouds, which would part so your could see an airplane.

Using torn printer paper, I made masks to sponge Marina Mist Classic Ink on two squares of Whisper White Cardstock.  One became my background, and I punched the clouds out of the other one.  the clouds are mounted on strips of Window Sheet using Sticky Strip.

For the front of the card, I chose Daffodil Delight and punched my window with the Postage Stamp Punch.  The airplane on the front is stamped in More Mustard Classic Ink.

For the float plane, I stamped it on Whisper White Cardstock in Jet Black Staz-On Ink and watercolored it with Daffodil Delight Classic Ink using a Blender Pen before cutting it out and attaching it to my background with Stampin' Dimensionals.

I couldn't get a picture of it completely closed, but when it is you can't see the plane at all.  :)

It's always fun to impress your parents and show them how far you have come from construction paper and dried pasta!

May 26, 2012: A Special Card

Pin It Now!
This is such a special card!  I received it in the mail from THE Dawn Griffith!  Her work is AMAZING, and if it wasn't for her You-Tube videos, I really don't think I would have ever known Stampin' Up! existed, or that I could be a successful stamper (seriously...you should have seen my first pre-SU product creations...disturbing).  Check out her amazing work HERE.  I owe her so much!

May 25, 2012: TGIF!

Pin It Now!
As promised, here is my comparison of the new firm foam pads using Stampin' Up!'s Soft Suede.  Soft Suede is one of my favorites, and I always keep my pad well inked; my old pad was reinked only a few weeks before I did this comparison.

Ordinarily, with the old fabric pads, you use a "twist, twist, tap, tap" motion to get your stamps nice and inky for full coverage.  With the new firm foam pads, as you can see, only two light taps was more than sufficient to ink up my stamp.  The color is much more saturated and stays wet just a fraction longer - long enough to heat emboss!  I know, right?  Heat embossing with a dye-based ink pad - unheard of!

You may also notice I'm treating you to a couple other sneaky peeks here.  :)  This die cut (in Very Vanilla) is from the new Oval Accent Bigz Clear Die, which I got to pre-order from the new catalog as a perk of being a demo.  And the adorable stamp set?  That is the new Make a Cake that I got for FREE (with new ribbons, Designer Series Paper and other stamps) for recruiting during Sale-a-Bration this year...one more way Stampin' Up! loves to spoil their demos!

Want to be spoiled?  Sign up to be a demo and choose exactly what you want from Stampin' Up!'s awesome lineup - $125 in dies, stamps, accessories, you name it! - and pay only $99, plus you get a business starter pack ($65 value) for FREE! There are a TON of reasons and perks to becoming a demo...E-MAIL ME for more details.  :)

I love to spoil my hostesses, too!  E-mail me to schedule a time for a fun girl's night in.  You provide the snacks, I'll provide the fun...AND you get free Stampin' Up! products as a hostess!
